After completing his Internal Medicine training, Dr. Selim joined the University of Iowa as an assistant professor of Internal Medicine, and became the team leader of the cardiovascular hospitalist group. Dr. Selim continued to assume leadership positions as he was chosen as a chief fellow both during his cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Nebraska, and during his electrophysiology fellowship at NYU.

In addition to his clinical and research interests, Dr. Selim has a special interest in medical technology development to improve patients’ care. He carries multiple patents for technologies aiming at improving the outcomes of patients with sudden cardiac death and other cardiovascular diseases. He received a special training as a medical devices innovation fellow from the University of Minnesota, as well as graduate level studies in nanotechnology and microfluidics from Harvard University.
